WIMIN 2025 Conference + thesis updates

Had the best day today visiting Smith college for their annual math conference. Me and five other AWM members drove 1,5h to Smith to both present and observe how the conferences are run. Later this year, we are planning on hosting a conference ourselves, so we were very eager to learn about how evrything works. What I can say for sure, it is much more work than we expected, so we decided to add two new board position this year - conference coordinators - to make sure we have everything up and running by January.

Honestly, I'm very excited about the idea of hosting a conference at my home school and see both new people and friends I met over the years. It is always so joyful to see familiar faces in the audience, when you are giving a talk. And with another conference ahead of me this coming weekend, I think giving a talk at Smith was great practice. I'm still struggling with conveying the relevance of my research to the listeners fully, but I hope an additional week of practice will help me get better at it. I'm grateful to my advisor Prof.Stoiciu and Prof.Athanasouli for being at my talk, supporting, and introducing me to new people.

I have not updated my blog for a while. Even though I knew this Fall semester would be much harder than the ones I had before due to the application season and thesis work, I did not expect to be as busy as I am right now. I must say, however, that it does not keep me from enjoying all the learning I'm doing. I have been exposed to multiple new interesting things, like bounded and unbounded operators, spectrum, and spectral measure and how they are all connected to Linear Algebra. Working with Prof.Stoiciu is very rewarding because I can see how my meetings with him help me become a more solid mathematician by filling the gaps in my understanding of the base topics. I think for the longest time I have been learning by doing, but I realized that sometimes I need to learn by learning to create a more complete picture I'm very excited to continue working on my thesis and hopefully contribute something new to the table sooner rather than later.
